Terms

Terms of service.

The rules for using dwnl.cc: the short links, their stats, the API, the CLI and the Pro traffic tools. By creating an account you agree to them.

The service

What it is
dwnl.cc turns a URL into a short link on dwnl.cc, redirects everyone who opens it and counts the clicks. You use it through the website, the HTTP API and the dwnl CLI.
Your account
You sign in with GitHub or Google. You are responsible for what is done with your account and with the API tokens you create; revoke a token the moment it leaks.
Free
Free costs nothing and has no time limit. Rate limits apply to the API and are listed in the API reference. dwnl.cc/docs/api#rate-limits
Pro
Pro is provided under an individual agreement: the price, the term and anything else we agree on with you. Where that agreement differs from these terms, the agreement wins.

Acceptable use

Phishing
No links to pages that imitate another service to collect passwords, payment details or personal data.
Malware
No links to software or pages that infect, damage or take over a device, including forced downloads.
Spam
No short links sent in unsolicited bulk messages, comment spam or messages that hide where they come from.
Illegal content
No links to content that is illegal where it is published or where it is opened, or that infringes someone else's rights.
Cloaking
No sending reviewers and bots to one page and people to another to get around an ad platform's or a network's rules.
The service itself
No attempts to overload the redirect, get around rate limits, read other accounts' data or break the security of the service.

Link removal

Checks
Destinations can be checked automatically when a link is created, and are reviewed by a person when a link is reported.
Switch-off
A link that breaks these terms is switched off. When people are at risk (phishing, malware) it happens at once and without notice; otherwise we write to you first.
Report a link
Send the short link and what is wrong with it. Reports are answered within one business day. abuse@dwnl.cc
Disagree?
Reply to the notice and tell us why. If the link was switched off by mistake, it is switched back on with its click history intact.

Your links and data

Ownership
Your links, their destinations, your offers, costs and conversion data stay yours. We use them only to run the service for you.
Clicks
What a click records, and what it does not, is set out on the privacy page. dwnl.cc/privacy
Export
Everything the dashboard shows can be read through the API, at any time, on any plan.

Offers, costs and postbacks

Your agreements
Offers, payouts and campaigns are between you and your networks, advertisers and ad platforms. Following their terms is your responsibility; dwnl.cc is not a party to them.
Reports
Revenue, profit and ROI are calculated from the payouts, costs and postbacks you provide. They are reports, not invoices; your network's numbers decide what you are paid.

Deactivation

By you
You can deactivate your account at any time in Account. Your links stop redirecting and your API tokens stop working; your links and their history are kept, and signing in again reactivates everything.
By us
We may deactivate an account that breaks these terms, after a notice unless people are at risk. For Pro, the notice periods in your agreement apply.
Erasure
To have your account and data erased for good rather than deactivated, write to us from the email address on the account.

Warranty and liability

As is
The service is provided as it is, without a guarantee that it is always available or free of errors. Pro availability commitments, if any, are part of your agreement.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost revenue, lost profit or indirect damage, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes and contact

Changes
New versions are published on this page with a new date. Changes that affect what you can do are announced by email before they take effect.
Contact
Questions about these terms, a Pro agreement or anything else. hello@dwnl.cc
